Oracle raises MySQL Standard Edition prices

Sun Microsystems, which Oracle bought this year, had offered subscription pricing for the open-source database starting at $599 per server per year.

The new annual subscription prices now start at $2,000 for MySQL Standard Edition. While the Enterprise Edition subscription starts at $5,000. In so doing Oracle has stopped Sun Microsystems entry level package which started at $600.
